MCD Global Health aspires to be a premier partner of choice and a recognized leader, innovator, and trusted partner in healthcare and public health program development, implementation and evaluation. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of people worldwide through enduring, high-quality, cost-effective, and universally accessible public health solutions. MCD operates impactful programs both in the U.S.A. and internationally.

Healthy Lincoln County is recruiting a contractor to support its Summer Meals program. This position will play a key role in coordinating HLC’s Summer Meals program. This is a great job for someone looking for temporary summer work. It’s also an excellent opportunity to support your local community.

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), coordinated through the Maine Department of Education, is a federally funded program through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that provides free meals to children 18 years old and under during the summer months. The SFSP was established to ensure low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals during the summer months when school is not in session. Free meals that meet the federal nutritional guidelines are provided to all children 18 years old and younger at approved SFSP sites in areas with significant concentrations of low-income children.

Responsibilities of this contracted position will include program compliance, volunteer recruitment and management, meal site visit monitoring, and communication and community outreach.

Specific duties include:

  1. Serve as the primary liaison between the kitchens, site locations, and volunteers.

  2. Follow and implement program compliance. Ensure all sites comply with USDA nutrition guidelines and SFSP requirements. Ensure program eligibility and accurate documentation for sites.

  3. Collect and monitor daily meal counts from volunteers and enter them weekly into the Summer Food Services Portal.

  4. Train, coordinate, and support a network of meal site coordinators.

  5. Recruit and support volunteers. Provide initial and ongoing training for volunteers and meal site personnel. Manage all volunteer communication, including reminder emails and thank you notes.

  6. Communication and outreach. Communicate effectively and accurately about the Summer Meals Program to all stakeholders which includes developing communications and marketing outreach materials.

    • Oversee the upkeep of the summer meals delivery van.

  7. Participate in HLC team meetings and/or calls as determined by the operations manager.

  8. Other duties as assigned.
