Location: Hybrid: Primarily remote with commitments at schools for trainings and ongoing school nurse support around the State of Maine and occasional in office commitments at MCD offices -105 Second Street, Suite 2A; Hallowell, ME 04347

We are looking to bring on board an Associate Program Manager to provide leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation for the SDF: School Nurse Pilot. The Associate Program Manager will lead this Pilot exploring a novel approach in Maine to increase access to the cavity arresting medicine, silver diamine fluoride (SDF) to children in Maine’s schools.

The successful candidate will bring solid experience in either nursing or dental hygiene, and will be familiar with school-based care delivery.

The SDF: School Nurse Pilot Associate Program Manager provides oversight of all Pilot activities, including:

  • Supporting the School Oral Health Program (SOHP) Program Manager in monitoring project budgets, grant reports, and ensuring fulfillment of contractual obligations.
  • Managing day-to-day Pilot operations.
  • Recruiting and retaining school nurses to participate in the pilot activities, which includes but is not limited to:
    • Recruiting seven school nurses from State of Maine public schools.
    • Providing adequate training to participating school nurses on oral health assessment, identifying candidates for SDF application, obtaining consent, and applying SDF, and appropriate follow-up
    • Providing ongoing support both in person and via remote monitoring technology to participating school nurses throughout the pilot period.
    • Ensuring compliance with care standards and professionalism.
    • Strategizing with SOHP team about how to scale and replicate the pilot statewide, if successful.
    • Presenting to stakeholders both in-state and nationally about lessons learned in this Pilot.
  • Maintaining a close working relationship with stakeholder groups and State oral health efforts including but not limited to:
    • School Oral Health Program (SOHP)
    • Children’s Oral Health Network of Maine (COHN)
  • Purchasing all supplies and equipment necessary for pilot activities in collaboration with SOHP Project Coordinator, and SOHP Project Manager.
  • Directing the various facets of Pilot evaluation including design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Generating Pilot report.

Job requirements

Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills:

  • Maine State Licensure as either a Registered Dental Hygienist or Registered Nurse required.
  • Master’s degree in public health, dental hygiene, or nursing preferred.
  • Background in community or school-based care delivery, or education experience is desired.
  • Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills and cultural awareness are essential.
  • Strategic planning, collaborative visioning, and strong leadership skills are necessary.
  • Frequent travel within the State of Maine is required.
  • Detailed knowledge of all current Microsoft Office software programs, as well as any other software programs necessary to perform the job.
  • Demonstrated experience in program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
